New Beginnings & The Future

Posted: October 14, 2012 in Drake's Posts

To say that the past few months had been busy would be an understatement.

With work and other personal projects taking centre stage it has not left much time for everything else. To summarise, work, home, family and even my sporting challenges have undergone drastic changes and swings in fortune. As of today, fortune smiles and that is how I aim to keep it.

And so to writing and first I must give my thanks to the e-publishers Book Sanctuary. They were the first to give me a chance and to prove myself as a writer, promoting Book One and Two of The Warrior’s Journey series and the Origins collection of short-stories.

Now it is with a heavy heart that I must part company from Book Sanctuary. I thank them for the chance they gave me and the time invested in my work and I would recommend any young and newly-started writer to approach them and submit their work.

I however am moving on to new pastures. I received an offer from a publisher that I simply could not refuse, a chance to take The Warrior’s Journey to a whole new market, and therefore a choice was made.

Again I thank Book Sanctuary for all they did for me and I wish them all the luck in the world, but now I must look to the future.

The Warrior’s Journey is currently undergoing a vast re-edit to make ready for publication again. As well as this I have one or two projects still up my sleeve, plenty to keep me busy during this exciting time.

More details are to follow shortly of my new releases, big and small, with the new publishers. It is a whole new beginning, a new start and chance, one that I will take with both hands and cannot wait to fully get started with.

Thank you for your time once again.

Available free via Book Sanctuary is The Warrior’s Journey: Origins.

Origins is a collection of three short stories following the lives of the main characters of The Warrior’s Journey series before the events of the first book, Destiny.

Courage chronicles Garrick Chilver and Darhius Samia’s training with the army of Castille. They have been enemies since childhood, but in the brutal trials of combat a friendship will be forged in blood and flame.

Honour shows the life of Hayden Braav before his imprisonment, when he had a happy and loving family. His joy is shattered in one fateful night that will change his fate forever.

Loyalty charts the journey of Freya and Detrel Aurus, their banishment as star-crossed lovers, their search for safety and their enslavement. Their love for each other holds them strong, even in the face of the living death.

All covers are the fantastic artwork of Paul Quinn (

The following link will take you straight through to the Book Sanctuary website where you will be one click away from obtaining the Origins Collection. No registration, no fee, no cost, just three epic short stories that give more insight into the characters of The Warrior’s Journey and are independent stories in their own right.

The Chaos Rages On

Posted: May 18, 2012 in Drake's Posts

It has been a crazy few months and there is no sign of stopping any time soon. This is just a brief update of what I am upto and plan for the coming months.

Following the release of Destiny near the end of last year I was spurred on by the great reviews and the fantastic response I received for my first release. This provided the drive I needed to complete Darkness, second book in The Warrior’s Journey series, which was released earlier this year. Then came the release of Day of Demons, a dark fantasy/horror anthology created by Colin F Barnes in which I was fortunate enough to be chosen as one of the contributors.

Now, six months following the release of my first novel, Destiny, I have various projects on the go.

The Warrior’s Journey: Origins is due out in the very near future, a collection of three short stories following the lives of several of The Warrior’s Journeys lead protagonists and their lives before the events of Destiny. Keep an eye out for the release of this in hopefully the next month or so.

Hope, book three in The Warrior’s Journey series, is roughly two-thirds complete. It is taking me slightly longer to complete than I thought as I want to ensure that it is as good as it possibly can be before being released into the wide world. For me Hope is definitely the best of the series so far and I do not want to risk its quality by rushing it. When it is near completion I will certainly let you know.

Outlaws, a novel set in the very near future regarding the lives of those effected by the rising crime rate of Britain, is currently being reviewed by my publisher Book Sanctuary so this may very well be my next release. It is a completely stand alone story that I wrote whilst living in London and is the most harrowing, hard-hitting and realistic novel I have written to date. I am very proud of its story and am eager to see what others make of it.

Lastly is my latest project. Following the release of Day of Demons a number of reviews stated that they would be eager to read further tales that either followed on from my story Cost of Glory or showed the events that led to the story. I am currently doing both, writing an anthology of short stories which show the life of Marek Stormheart before and after the climatic events in Covehold during Cost of Glory. I am using any spare time outside of work and writing Hope to add additional tales to this anthology and will let you know if it will ever rise from the darkness to see the cold light of day.

On the following you will find an interview between myself and my publisher Book Sanctuary, covering areas such as my current workings and my latest release in The Warrior’s Journey series, Darkness:

Day of Demons

Posted: April 13, 2012 in Drake's Posts

Day of Demons is a collection of powerful stories featuring the conflict of demons and humans over the course of a day.

Read how one woman’s inner-self awakens to unexpected and frightening consequences, or how a charismatic half-breed thief is forced to strike a deal with a pen-stealing imp. Read about a mother as she struggles to cope with a deadly, satanic bargain, and a sword-wielding anti-hero as he returns out of exile to face his demonic fate.

Nine stories, nine demons, nine authors. From fantasy, to horror, to contemporary fiction, this anthology will fright, delight and grip you with tales of daring-do, danger and of course — demons.

  1. Deal by Karen Davies
  2. Inheritance by Phil Hickes
  3. Serpent’s Kiss by Krista Walsh
  4. Sam & The Spear by Gary Bonn
  5. Numen by V. Đ. Griesdoorn
  6. City of Light and Stone by Laura Diamond
  7. Cost of Glory by Edward Drake
  8. A Mother’s Love by James M. Mazzaro
  9. The Devil and Mrs Milton by Sarah Anne Langton

I have had the immense privilege to read each of these stories and I can tell you that not one disappoints. They are all true tales of horror and fantasy and the tension, suspense and thrills will have your heart pounding and leave you on the edge of your seat. This collection of talented authors, overseen by the master editor and chief Colin F Barnes, have created an anthology that is already garnering fantastic reviews.

Also you may recognise the name of the author of Cost of Glory.

Finally the wait is over.

Released today on Amazon for Kindle,  and other formats is the second novel in The Warrior’s Journey series, Darkness.

The lives the people of Castille had known are gone. Their cities have been ravaged, loved ones taken and long thought extinct beasts and demons have risen from the darkness.

The Brotherhood of Guardians, the corrupt cult of enforcers, have made their warning and are making their presence felt amongst the carnage.

The Paladins, a sect of chaotic mages, led by the supreme sorcerer Morrigan, are bent on reclaiming an ancient forgotten power and are marching across the realms, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. Castille is next.

But there is still hope. Though scattered and vastly outnumbered, Garrick Chilver and the heroes and knights of Castille will fight on, to piece back together their shattered homeland. Each will face their own demons and their courage, honour and loyalty will all be pushed to breaking point: in the besieged citadel of Rheins they will battle to save all they hold dear.

The Warrior’s Journey continues.
